Butterflies

My latest creation.
The divine porcelain cabochon
hails from Magpie Pottery.

I will be listing this prettiful
pendant tomorrow morning
in my always sunny and cheerful

I'm short on words today.
Too many late nights
at the bench and the endless rain
has zapped the energy right out
of this chica!

Artisans' Collective Part 3

The flight was uneventful, the bags are unpacked, and we are home.

Happily, I am back at the bench.
Two orders shipped, three custom orders
in the pickle, and all sorts of new work
for my shop in the coming days!

Here's Part 3 of the Artisans' Collective introductions.

I Like Lichen

My daughter hunted for treasure in my folks' backyard.
She searched for snail shells.
I joined her on her quest.
This is what I found.
Live oak twigs encrusted with lichen and air plants.

Nature provides us with the coolest treasure,
wouldn't you agree?

Artisans' Collective Part 2

We are still on our late winter holiday.
I have to admit that I'm getting a bit antsy
to return home and hit the bench.

(No future in nature photography, but I snapped this outside my folks' place)

Vacation means lots of activities for my girl,
which equals long, long naps during the afternoon.
This gives me a chance to email, network, tend
to my shop, and blog.

For today's nap time blogging, I present the next 9 members of
Artisans' Collective, a smashing new team on Etsy.

One Down, One To Go

Week one of our late winter vacation has come and gone. How can that be?
If anyone knows how to slow down time,
just let me know, OK?

Here's a little peek at our first week in the Sunshine State.

Beach, Burn, and Cupcakes

Away from the bench and cold we are.
Ahh....
Nothing like a break from the long, gray New England winter.

Of course, first thing we did was play in the sand and collect seashells.
And yours truly got a rippin' burn.
I'll never learn.

Even though we are miles and miles away from the studio, my Etsy shop is still open.
And I'm doing business as well!
Also, a Quench piece has also made an appearance on Craftgawker.

And lastly, a sweet treat.
We happened upon a cupcake shop today called Frostings.
Oh heavens!
Vintage candies, homemade cupcakes, old-fashioned lollipops....
my girl was thrilled to get her own for dessert!

Vacation is good!

Introducing the Artisans Collective

Recently, I received an invitation to join Etsy's newest team, Artisans' Collective.
I gleefully accepted, of course.

Members are the sort of artists who blur the boundaries of the
age old battle 'Is craft art?'.

These folks are the best of the best
and I am thrilled to join
their ranks!

I decided to start at the top of the alphabet and
introduce you all to the team members
over the next few months.

In other news, my girl and I have arrived safely in Florida
for a late winter visit with
my folks.
So, any posts this week will be focused on the
fine art of relaxing!

And the winner is.....

Thank you to all who entered, became a fan on Quench's facebook page, and tweeted about this giveaway!

After going through the entries three times, the final count was 64.

We have a winner!

Number 19!! The Fiddlin Trucker!

Congratulations!

Go West, Pretty Jewels!

This collection, plus a few more fine pieces, are heading out west to the very hip, handmade crazy town of Portland, Oregon.

Look for these in the new shop, Salty Teacup, owned and operated by one of my old RISD mates, Karen Urban (a fine jewelry designer as well!)

Thinking Summer

Well,
it seems the only thing to chase away a wretched cold is to lock oneself away in a tiny studio and work nine hours a day.
My health has improved, somehow I caught up on my sleep quota, and I produce a many fine item.

This neckpiece, as I mentioned in an earlier post, will be heading to the Salty Teacup in Portland, Oregon for their grand opening on April 2nd.
I really should take some photos of the finished piece as I oxidized (of course!) the necklace before setting the buttons.
It. is. a. killer.

The piece below is for my own inventory.
I included two porcelain cabs from Magpie Pottery.
I LOVE. LOVE LOVE Maggie's work!
I have a lovely selection of her cabs, all waiting patiently for
a new home.

I apologize. The photo does not do the colors justice.
The colors are far richer and more of a minky,
burgandy than the photo suggests.

Lastly, I was juried into the Common Ground Country Fair this coming September! We had a blast last year and made many new friends and customers. I'm thrilled to be
a vendor again this year!

Is it too early to start talking fairs?
I certainly have to think 6 months ahead of now....that puts me in early Septmeber with 3 shows over and done with, happily eating tomatoes straight from the vine, and enjoying the wonder that is late summer.

Barefoot, I may add.

Ah.
